12th of April 2014, IZMIR, Turkey

On April 12th 2014, a panel discussion on olive waste management was organised by IAMAW and TMMOB-KMO (Chamber of Chemical Engineers) Aegean Branch at OLIVTECH 2014, the annual national fair of olive sector held from the 10th to 13th of April in Izmir, Turkey. IAMAW experts showed the overall situation of the olive sector in Spain, Italy and Greece, depicting in depth the current economic, legislative and technological situation of the three word leaders in olive farming and olive oil production. The programme aimed not only at highlighting pros and cons of 2-phase and 3-phase olive oil extraction systems in terms of waste handling and reuse, but also at developing an economic and environmental foresight perspective in the olive waste management.

The event was attended by 104 participants, 57 of which were entrepreneurs from the olive oil sector, 32 representatives of the public sector (Ministries, Chambers and Academia) and 15 are from machinery, chemicals and engineering companies.
